This week was Melbourne Cup!
Over the years I’ve struggled with the whole horse racing thing but totally love the fashions cause I’m a fashionista at heart and love dressing up at any opportunity.

I was so thrilled to find out about an alternative picnic event Nup to the Cup | Newcastle held in Islington Park. Though the windy weather played havoc with everyone’s hats and fasinators it was such a fun day out connecting with others and raising funds for animal rescue charities.

I was thrilled to have my gorgeous friend Jade Hull, creator of Flowers for Frida and founder of the movement 28 Days in Flowers bringing awareness to womens mental health, make my fasinator for the day out of upcycled bits and pieces from her collection box.

I teamed the fashionator with a black faux leather dress I picked up at a second-hand pop-up event and heels from red cross op shop. Total cost of my outfit was around $35.

Did you wear recycled, upcycled or refashioned to any event this week?
Have a beautiful weekend!
Much much love
