The emergence of Spring and warmer weather seems to propel many of us into spring cleaning and decluttering moods. Well it has to me 🙂
As part of my preparation for Spring I am not only detoxing my wardrobe but also my body too. You can read more about my detox HERE.
I like to detox and declutter my wardrobe often usually at the end/beginning of a new season or before or after I have been on a preloved shopping spree at ‘raid’ or the op shops.
I highly recommend detoxing your wardrobe often. Why?
- It’s a mood lifter. You’ll feel so much lighter and happier after a detox – as it shifts energy!
- It opens up room for new things, new opportunities and new experiences to come your way!
- You’ll feel less overwhelmed and be able to find items easier when you know what you have.
- You’ll discover new clothes, shoes, bags you’d forgotten about.
- You’ll shed old memories and painful emotions that are no longer serving you. Let go of the guilt!
- Your old clothes, shoes and hang bags will make someone else very happy! Sharing the love!
A quick 5-10 minute wardrobe detox is a great place to start.
#1 Start by picking one – one drawer or one season or one section eg shoes or accessories.
#2 If it doesn’t fit properly, isn’t your colour, you have to buy other items to create an outfit with it or you haven’t worn it in the last 12 months or that season it’s time to say good bye to it – move it along and wear the items that make you feel fabulous.
#3 Undecided items – I have these items too. My tip is that I keep them where I can see them and they can get a chance to be worn. After a few months if I haven’t worn it and returned it to my wardrobe it gets donated.
So, this is what got the cull in my wardrobe this month:
Kaftan – cause how many kaftans does a girl really need?
Vintage leather bomber jacket – that I just don’t wear any more and don’t quiet like how it fits on me.
Tie-dye skirt – I have had fun with this and just don’t wear it anymore.
White SABA shirt – I have many white shirts and this one just doesn’t get worn.
Black wool turtle neck jumper – black up top is not my colour anymore and this wasn’t worn all winter so out it goes.
Printed jeans – they were fun for many years but just don’t wear them much now.
Stripped cardy – wore this loads last winter but not this year once so out it goes.
Pink Who is HUE leather clutch – needs more love by someone else.
Cut off True Religion denim shorts – these are a hard one to part with especially cause they were a gift from my husband. I just have another pair that I wear more and these need more love from someone else.
Country Road cotton pants – that I accidentally shrunk in the wash oops :/
A woolen vest – I never wore.
A few scarves.
Lots of accessories, jewellery and belts I just don’t wear.
Shoes – still to do.
The majority of items I am donating to my local op shop. The items with labels I’ll be donating to LABELS FOR LIVES read more about Lifeline’s initiative HERE.
